Platform - Garrison for Senate

My mission as Oklahoma State Senator will be to build a better state and nation for our families and children for generations to come. The people within District 9 come from all walks of life, but our shared beliefs and values have helped me shape a strong platform where every citizen has the opportunity to be successful. With faith in God, in family, and the community I will represent District 9 keeping in mind the welfare of all residents.

I believe:

Equality

In equal opportunity for all citizens.

In values that support and strengthen all families.

In rewarding, honest, hard work with a living wage and in a tax system that is fair.

That the individual strengths of our diverse population are a benefit and we must continue the historic fight to end discrimination.

In empowering our communities by creating good jobs, improving our public schools, and increasing home ownership.

In cutting prescription drug costs and providing Medicare drug coverage for every senior.

In ensuring that Social Security benefits for seniors, survivors and people with disabilities are not put at risk.

In the equal access to the polls for all eligible voters.

Education

In quality public education that gives all citizens the opportunity to reach their potential.

Improving education by reducing class size with additional, qualified teachers.

In making sure students have safe, modern facilities in which to learn.

That we must make school funding more reliable.

That we must increase teacher salaries at least to the regional average to attract and keep top quality teachers.

Freedom

In freedom from government interference in our private lives and personal decisions.

In separation of Church and State to preserve the freedom to pursue our beliefs.

That trust and credibility are at the very heart of the relationship between a government and its people.

In right to life.

The Future of Oklahoma

In supporting our Veterans with continued medical benefits and pensions to those who qualify.

In winning the war on terrorism and making our country more secure.

In protecting your Social Security, pension, and retirement savings.

In investing in Oklahoma to create good jobs.

In keeping our air and water clean.

In keeping a safe food supply.

In promoting a healthy lifestyle for Oklahoma's children by encouraging proper nutrition and physical activity.

In providing our law enforcement officials with the resources and training to arrest drug dealers and take gangs off our streets.

That we must help existing business and industry stay in business since they have already made an investment in Oklahoma.

That we must help our farmers and ranchers prosper as they continue their struggle to survive.

That this beautiful state of Oklahoma and its citizens deserve nothing less than the above from the state legislature.
